Matcha preparation essentials:
A bamboo whisk, a (bamboo) scoop, a bowl (= Matcha set), and water at 70–80°C.

How do you prepare a Matcha latte?

• Place 2 Hug the Tea scoops (= 2 g) of Matcha into a bowl
• Add 1 tablespoon of water
• Whisk the Matcha with the bamboo whisk into a smooth paste (or use a sieve)
• Add 50 ml of water (75–80°C)
• Whisk the Matcha for 10-20 seconds using a rapid "W" motion until foam forms
• Add approx. 150 ml of frothed milk and enjoy your Matcha latte!

Different Matcha Grades

Hug the Tea offers three different grades of matcha from Kagoshima, Japan: Grades A, B, and C. Ceremonial Grade A matcha is made from first-harvest leaves and represents the highest quality. Premium Grade B matcha has a bold flavor and is perfect for hot or iced matcha lattes—for instance, with soy or almond milk. Grade B matcha can also be enjoyed on its own or used in recipes.
